What is Classical Pilates & Contrology?
Chicago is filled with amazing Pilates Studios, but it's hard to find a studio that embodies the true essence of Pilates. Yoga Pilates Co. is proud to keep the Pilates linage pure and teaches real Pilates, just as Joseph Pilates and the Pilates "Elders" intended.
The Six Principles of Pilates :
1. Centering – Bringing focus to the “center” of the body or what we refer to when teaching as the “Powerhouse.”
2. Control – Each movement is done with muscular control and while paying attention to detail and positioning.
3. Concentration – Bringing mindful awareness and intent into the workout and through each exercise to get the most out of it. Doing fewer repetitions in the correct way is better than doing many without focus!
4. Precision – Focus on the details and positioning throughout each exercise. Awareness is sustained throughout each movement.
5. Breath – Breath is emphasized! Focus is on the lungs being used to truly pump air in and out of the body. The breath can be used to deepen the exercises. Many of the exercises were created to work the lungs specifically.
6. Flow – Fluidity, grace, and each movement and transition are goals applied to each exercise. Working with rhythms and connecting one exercise to the next creates a flowing workout and one of constant motion.
Contrology:

In the book "Pilates' Return To Life Through Contrology," Joseph Pilates writes, "Contrology is complete coordination of the body, mind and spirit. Through Contrology you first purposefully acquire complete control of your own body and then through proper repetition of its exercises you gradually and progressively acquire that natural rhythm and coordination associated with all your subconscious activities. ... Contrology develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind, and elevates the spirit."
About the founder
Nice to meet you!
The opportunity to start Yoga Pilates Co. came to me through what felt like divine timing and alignment—an unexpected yet perfect chance to bring this vision to life.

A little about me...
I’m currently completing my Master’s in Bilingual Early Childhood Education with a focus on Urban Learning. My journey here has been shaped by a variety of passions, each leading me to this moment. It all started when I began working in real estate at Century 21 SGR, where I met my recruiter’s wife, Lidia. She introduced me to an incredible opportunity—to open a yoga/ Pilates studio in her commercial space in the West Loop!
(PS: My secret to keeping up with everything? Yoga and Pilates, of course! )
As a former full-time yoga and mat Pilates instructor, I couldn’t say no to this dream come true.
Before founding Yoga Pilates Co., I taught at a well-known yoga studio and led classes in luxury apartment buildings throughout Chicago. In my spare time, I also hosted weekly sound bowl events—something I still love to do.
The best part of being a yoga and Pilates instructor has always been the connections I build with my students. Helping people reach their goals, big or small, is what fuels my passion for teaching.
My vision for Yoga Pilates Co. is to offer variety and inclusivity. I believe in honoring the true essence of yoga and Pilates while also creating fun, effective classes tailored to individual needs. Whether you’re looking for a dynamic workout, a mindful flow, or a strong sense of community, I hope you feel welcome and supported here at Yoga Pilates Co.!

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting this journey.
